New Delhi [India], January 29: BlueRose Publishers proudly announces the release of Shri Rama Charitam [The Life and Character of Shri Rama] by Sukumar Das. This remarkable work reflects decades of study, dedication, and the author’s lifelong pursuit of exploring India’s cultural, spiritual, and historical foundations. The book is now available for readers worldwide.
At 79, Kolkata-based author Sukumar Das, a double M.A. and retired IAS officer, marks his literary debut with Shri Rama Charitam [The Life and Character of Shri Rama], now available on Amazon. Though this is his first published work, the author carries a lifelong burden — an unfulfilled literary mission entrusted to him decades ago.
In 1958, his father assigned him an extraordinary responsibility:
- To liberate people from imposed faith in anthropomorphic Gods, and
- To unearth the truths of Pre-Historic India, so that society may be enlightened about its cultural, social, and religious missteps.
Life, however, offered him the space to pursue this monumental project only after retirement, a moment when time itself felt scarce. “I had no particular charm in publishing my first book,” he admits. “My agony lies in not having enough time left to write the 50 books I had hoped to complete.”
His current work reflects three core objectives:
- Liberating humanity from unquestioned belief in anthropomorphic deities,
- Illuminating ancient India’s forgotten or distorted histories, and
- Laying the foundation for a modern, science-based understanding of religion grounded in the Dynamic Truism of Reality of Creation and the Creative Process.
The themes he explores push readers to question inherited beliefs and reconsider the origins of rituals, traditions, and cultural conditioning. His writing urges society to examine whether worshipping deified humans or animals — with significant investment of faith, time, and resources — truly elevates the human spirit in an age when science reshapes our understanding of the universe.
A man with no occupation now other than maintaining his health and extending his years long enough to continue writing, Das remains steadfast in his pursuit of intellectual reform. He advocates for:
- Rational rethinking of ancient faith systems,
- Radical reforms in Indian social structures, and
- The birth of a contemporary, science-based spiritual understanding.
Despite his stature and experience, he offers no advice to young writers. “Writing is born from one’s inner urgings,” he says simply.
What he hopes to leave behind is a question for his readers — a question meant to awaken thought rather than impose belief:
Can any anthropomorphic deity truly be the creator or regulator of the universe, or is it time for humanity to envision a new, knowledge-based religion rooted in the dynamic truths of creation itself?
